(Internet Message Access Protocol)- IMAP A standard interface between a user's e-mail program and the mail server, as defined by IETF RFC 3501
(Simple Mail Transfer Protocol)- SMTP The standard e-mail protocol on the Internet and part of the TCP/IP protocol suite, as defined by IETF RFC 2821.
